Are you ready for your Edina Weekend?

Posted by Kris Lindahl on Friday, March 6th, 2015 at 2:18pm.

It’s FRIDAY! There’s a lot going on this weekend right here in our own backyards in Edina. Read on as we help you make some fun plans for this weekend.

 Mmmmm. . .pancakes!

Come out and support the Edina Lions Club Sunday morning and have a yummy pancake breakfast. All proceeds go to the PACER Center. This organization provides support to parents of children with disabilities.

The pancake breakfast will be held at South View Middle School on South View Lane from 8:00 a.m. until noon Sunday, March 8. Breakfast is $8 per person.

Fun stuff for the kids

Spend the morning with your little one and the Sesame Street Gang at Edina Senior Center. There will be cookie making with the Cookie Monster, visits to Oscar’s garbage can and counting fun with the Count.

Painting, sculpting and drawing will also be on the menu. Parents or other caregivers must accompany the children and it’s open to kids age 18 months to 6 years.

Be at the Edina Senior Center at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow for the 45 minute program.

If your child is interested in learning to bowl, take him or her join the Bowling Club. Call the City of Edina for more information – 952-927-8861.

Older folks want to have fun too

The Edina Art Center presents “The Art of T,” a 10-artist exhibition. The letter “T” provided the stimulus and inspiration for these artists so to say that the display is eclectic would be an understatement.

Attend the exhibit tomorrow, March 7, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at 4701 W. 64th St. in Edina.

See a movie

AMC Southdale 16 has some interesting offerings this weekend. If you have wee ones, Paddington and Spongebob Square Pants 2 might be fun. “The Theory of Everything,” based on the life of Stephen Hawking is also playing. It’s rated PG13.

Finally, in the IMAX theater, there’s “Chappie,” rated R. This is the story of a robot that has been given the ability to feel and think for himself. Will he find his way in the human world? See the movie to find out!

Channel your inner Hemmingway

Budding writers have a chance to hone their craft tomorrow, March 7 at the library. Funded by Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, “First Pages for Adults: Characters, Plot, Setting - Strengthening Your Story” gets you beyond the basics to focus on the craft elements that will make your writing shine.

There are only eight openings left for tomorrow’s session so sign up now. You can do so online or by calling 612-543-5900. Southdale Library is located at 7001 York Ave S. in Edina.

All of us on Team Lindahl wish you a GREAT weekend!
