Don’t you wish you had a dollar for every person that’s asked you this week if you’re “ready for the holidays?” Who is ever completely ready? There are so many last minute details to attend to yet the season is also full of fun stuff to do. It’s rather hard to concentrate on just one aspect.
It’s FRIDAY though so let’s look ahead to a couple things you may want to do this weekend.
Skate with Santa
This one takes place tomorrow at Braemar Arena. Be there by 10:30 a.m. so the little ones can skate with the jolly, chubby guy.
Kids of all ages and skating abilities are invited to attend. They’ll be serving refreshments too.
You’ll need to pre-register for the even and you can do so here.
Admission is $7 and you can rent skates for $2. The event winds up at 12:15 p.m.
It sure is a good thing we have the Braemar Arena – we’d have nowhere to go for all these great events if we didn’t!
The Edina Invitational boys’ hockey tournament, which started last night at Braemar, has two games tonight that they’re calling them the highlight of the Invitational. Edina won the match last night against Grand Rapids, 8 to 3.
The first match tonight pits Eden Prairie against Grand Rapids. Eden Prairie’s Eagles made it to the state semifinals last year and are ranked 7th in the AA division and Grand Rapids’ Thunderhawks are ranked at number 10.
The highlight for Edina boosters, however, is the game between Edina and Elk River. Edina is ranked number 2 while Elk River is number 6. We won the tourney last year so this will be a fun match.
Saturday’s final-round matches will see Elk River playing Grand Rapids and Eden Prairie is paired with Edina.
Both tonight and Saturday’s games are at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. with Edina taking to the ice at 8 on both days.
Ditch the Kids
Well, at least for a time, so that you can shop for their gifts. Parents Night Out, for last minute holiday prep, is being held this Monday, December 22 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Braemar Field.
The kids will be well-supervised while they play games, sports and other stuff. Also – pizza dinner will be served. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the City of Edina website.
